Hearst Tower

Pictures from December 2004

Between West 57th Street and West 56th Street and Eighth Avenue
New York City, United States
Architect: Foster and Partners
Projected Completion: 2006

The largest triangles on Eighth Avenue are no longer at the hated Port Authority but instead a few blocks uptown. Sir Norman Foster's first US building is for the Hearst Corporation, a historic American media empire that was founded by the guy that Citizen Kane was based on. The tower rises out of Hearst's original 1928 headquarters, originally designed as the base of a tower that was never built.
